Stay, Play and Eat!

Edinbarnet held their first Stay, Play and Eat session on Thursday the 27th of October. 

Our Stay, Play and Eat model provides our parents with opportunities to play with their children on a one to one basis.  We offer a creche facility for children within the ages of 0-16.  Our creche facility is set up by an outside agency.  This ensures that our parents are confident in knowing that their children are in good hands and frees up our parents to spend one to one time with their children.    

We then support our parents in playing with their children and show them a range of activities that they can do with their children at home to enhance the learning taking place in class.  This lasts for approximately an hour and then the parents collect their children from the creche and we go and have dinner together.  

Our first block of Stay, Play and Eat is aimed at Primary 1 and 2 children.  We hope to open this up to the whole school in the future.  

Our first session went down a treat with both parent and children.  We spent time discussing reading strategies and then explored these through a range of active activities.  We then ended our evening with a feast provided by McMonagles of Pizza, chips and Ice Blasts!

Edinbarnet's Got Talent!

On Thursday afternoon we held our annual event "Edinbarnet's Got Talent" and what a show it was!



We had a wide range of acts such as singing, dancing and playing musical instruments. Everyone was fantastic and performed with such confidence.

The judges certainly had their work cut out for them as ALL acts performed to such a high standard! 


They made their final decision which was as follows: 


1st: Lauren (singing)


2nd: Grace (playing the tenor horn)


3rd: Jamie (dancing) 


A massive well done to all children who took part! You made us all feel very proud! 


Edinbarnet certainly does have talent! 

Edinbarnet's Cheer and Dance Team - WDC Dance Festival

The boys and girls of Edinbarnet's Cheer and Dance Team have been working extremely hard over the past 4 weeks!  Our 4 week block of dance came to a fantastic end when we participated in the WDC Dance Festival held at the new leisure centre in Clydebank.

We spent time ensuring we knew the skills and technique of Cheer leading.  We learned the names of arms, jumps and positions.  It's not as easy as it looks you know!

Meet the members of our wonderful team:

 

Cheer leading involves fast and sharp movements.  Cheer involves lots of peel offs where the dancers start a series of movements on different counts.  This means we have to work hard to ensure we know our music and counts!  With cheer mixes being so fast and upbeat the children have to ensure that their performance and energy level match the music.  This takes hard work an dedication which Miss McKelvie certainly got from this bunch.

They looked amazing and their performance was outstanding.
 I am one proud teacher!

Amazing Things

Today Edinbarnet attended Amazing things, as 3 of their projects were short listed. We were short listed for the John Muir Award, Edinbarnet Editors and Learning through Play Fairyland. Six of our pupils were chosen to show case their amazing learning.

As always the children made their teachers beam with pride. They were confident, informative and professional.

We were delighted to have the support of some of our parents today. It meant so much to the children and teachers involved.

Although we didn't win the overall prize, in our eyes our pupils are always winners.
