- Our new netball team amazed EVERYONE with their success in the recent WDC netball festival.
- Despite being a whole new team and some members being completely new to netball, they played amazingly!
- With plenty of wins, one draw and only one defeat, our team have secured a well deserved place in Netball League A.
- We would like to say a huge well done for this achievement and wish them all the luck in the world for their upcoming league matches. Go Edinbarnet!

Edinbarnet's Primary 1 - 3 Dance Team
This year we decided to aim our Cheer and Dance club to the younger members of the school. The boys and girls worked extremely hard over a 5 week period. They learned the basics of Cheerleading and we focused on timing and partner work. Our 5 week block of dance ended with a performance at the WDC Dance Festival held in Clydebank Leisure centre. The boys and girls loved the opportunity to perform and made Miss McKelvie one very proud teacher!
Miss McKelvie had over 60 boys and girls who wanted to be a part of this team. Sadly I couldn't take everyone, so we held auditions and managed to pick out these wonderful children!
We got a little carried away with the photos!
Primary 1a's wonderful dancers!
Primary 3 has lots of talented dancers!

Block 2 of Stay, Play and Eat
Edinbarnet held its second block of Stay Play and Eat in Term 3. Again, the initiative was aimed at children in Primary 1 and 2. We had such a large intake of pupils and parents that we doubled our numbers from the original block and had to create a waiting list! We loved seeing the enthusiasm and interest in our initiative.
This block there was more of a focus on the impact of learning taking place during each session. Miss McKelvie and Miss Hampson created resources and games to suit the individual abilities of the children attending. We assessed the children's reading prior to and after attending Stay, Play and Eat. We also assessed both parents and children's attitudes towards reading prior to and after attending Stay, Play and Eat. We seen a huge increase in both these areas and will continue to run Stay, Play and Eat in the future!

Stay, Play and Eat - Parental Invovlement
Our first block of Stay, Play and Eat has come to an end.
Stay, Play and Eat is an initiative set up by Edinbarnet Primary School in order to allow parents to spend quality, one on one learning time with their children.
Stay, Play and Eat allowed both our children and parents to develop their understanding of reading strategies and how these can be explored through a wide range of activities. The opportunities planned for at Stay, Play and Eat were aimed at individual ability level in order for the children to be supported and challenged. This allowed our parents to see how they can support their child in a variety of different ways at home.
Stay, Play and Eat was also successful in developing our children's social skills. We loved sharing our learning as a community and providing the children with the opportunity to further develop their social skills in new situations.
To round off each session of Stay Play and Eat we sat down and had dinner together. Parents collected their other children from the creche if need be and they also joined us for dinner. This was a great way to build stronger relationships between staff and the families who attend our school. The food was provided by 'McMonagles Fish Boat' for the first few weeks and then 'The Riverside Bar and Restaurant' for the last 2 sessions. The food was delicious and a great incentive to work REALLY hard during our play sessions.

During our last session of Stay, Play and Eat we asked the parents to complete an evaluation form of the block. The feedback we received was outstanding. Here are some anonymous quotes we would like to share:
Did you enjoy the 4 weeks you have spent at Stay, Play and Eat?
'I enjoyed it because it helped me bond & spend time learning fun different ways to help my child learn'
'Yes highly recommended, gave - confidence showing me what level he is at with words instead of just his homework'
Would you attend Stay, Play and Eat again?
'Yes, the teachers have worked hard and us parents enjoy the company'
'I feel that Stay, Play and Eat has brought me and my son into a more relaxed teaching habit and I feel I get less stressed while doing his homework at home'
Do you feel Stay, Play and Eat benefitted both yourself and your child?
'Yes, this gave me some time with - on her own after a rocky (diva) start the first two weeks, the 2nd two weeks went brill with - excited to do the activities with myself. Great learning curve for me. I have learnt how to teach - in ways I would not normally have done.'
In What ways do you feel Stay, Play and Eat could be improved?
'This is a great programme and I would definitely attend with my child again. I don't think it could be any better'
As a school we have evaluated the block and are amending the model for Term 3. We hope this is something that we can sustain as the benefits to the children and their families are endless.
